Here at Effortlessly Eco, we feel that the people behind the brands are almost as important as the products they sell! Here's your chance to get to know their stories so far, what makes them tick, and how their products are making a difference in the world.
Karen and Kia - Founders of Moonie
What inspired you to start your business?
Moonie was an idea of ours over 8 years, we found there was a real lack of affordable, sustainable products available. Some of the big brands had started to offer eco alternatives but upon closer inspection they weren't sustainable at all! We launched with just one product - The Muslin Cleansing Cloth to help replace single-use face wipes. Our aim is to create products that are affordable, accessible and attainable.
So far, what has been the proudest moment for your brand?
Whenever we get tagged in a customer photo or receive product feedback it just makes our week. It's so wonderful to see someone using a product you've put so much love and energy into. We want to make our products as accessible as possible and we're so proud to now have over 60 stockists across the UK.
What has been the biggest challenge you've faced?
Being a sustainable small start-up has been challenging. Often eco-friendly products such as paper tape, biodegradable packaging & cotton thread are much more expensive than their plastic counterparts. We had to get creative to stretch our budget by re-using packaging and making products in small batches to avoid waste.
Have you/are you introducing any sustainability initiatives?
We are always looking for ways to lessen our impact on the planet. All of our packaging is 100% recyclable and we have just introduced new custom branding which will encourage customers to recycle our shipping boxes.
It's the small, simple swaps that makes a huge difference. Switching to Reusable Cotton Pads has been a game-changer! Everyone should make the switch; it saves so many single-use pads and is much more cost-effective!
